G. (Genevieve) Gail Hunter, 88, a Fairlawn resident for more than 50 years, died at home on December 17, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Robert A. Hunter, and her parents, Harry and Ruth Reneker. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Hunter (husband, George Hope) of Harrisburg, Pa., and Nancy Hunter (husband, Jeff Stout) of Perry Township; and sister, Mary Margaret Huff (Web) of Harrisburg, Pa. She was also predeceased by five brothers and one sister, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Born on October 26, 1924, in Harrisburg, Pa., she moved to the Akron area with her husband a few years after their marriage on October 27, 1945.
Gail had been a member of the First Congregational Church of Akron for over 50 years. She served as a Women's Auxiliary member of the Akron City Hospital (now Summa) Board for many years. She was a member of the Fairlawn City Women's Club, the Fairlawn City Garden Club, and the Akron Woman's City Club. She also contributed numerous volunteer hours to Akron City Hospital, Fairlawn's Art in the Park festival, the Fairlawn 4th of July parades, and many Copley-Fairlawn school events.
