Gayle T. Pickering

Gayle T. Pickering, age 79, of Akron, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

She was born September 11, 1942, in Bronx, NY; daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (nee Mulroy) Thomas.

Gayle met her husband, James in 1962 and they were married in 1966. They lived in several locations, such as Australia, Panama, Mexico, and Peru. Traveling was one of Gayle’s favorite things to do, especially to beautiful beaches in Florida and New Smyrna. She also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and had a love for horses. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed her time in the kitchen. Gayle was a member of the Bath Volunteer Services and spent time helping in the Rape Crisis Center. A truly caring, and kind woman, Gayle will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Philip Thomas.

Gayle is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, James V. Pickering Jr.; sons, Clay and Adam Pickering; daughter-in-law, Tamara Pickering; grandchildren, Austin James Pickering and Kaitlyn Winter Pickering; sister-in-law, Marian Thomas; niece and nephew, Kelsey and Brian Thomas.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
