Gaynell Ratliff, 75, loving wife, mother, sister, and nanan, passed away on September 19, 2009.
Gaynell was born and raised in Logan, W.Va. In 1966, she moved to Akron with her family and worked as a florist at Ahern's and Flowers by Gus. For eight years, she was owner and florist at her own shop, Gaynell's Flowers & Plants. She enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, shopping and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Bernard Hager, and Charles Ratliff; father and mother, Lester and Rouie Sperry; sisters, Freda, Elaine, and Donna Sue; brother, Richard and son-in-law, Steve Reynolds. She is survived by sisters, Evelyn Perry Noah of Logan, W.Va., and Charlotte Losh Stan of Mogadore; children, Debbie Reynolds of Huntington, W.Va., Sheila Schmidt Louie of Norton, Don Ratliff Deborah of Akron, Doug Ratliff of Akron, Bruce Ratliff Lori of Clinton, Joyce Knapp Jim of Seville, and Tina Ward; grandchildren, Michelle, Edward Kylene, Stephanie, Richard Sue, Kate, Mitchell, Michael, Matthew, Christopher, Jacklyn, Louisa and Diana; as well as many great-grandchildren; nephews, and nieces.
Friends may call at Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., on WEDNESDAY evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on THURSDAY morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Hillary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St., Father Steven Brunovsky celebrant. Final resting place will be at Rose Hill Burial Park. Donations may be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333.
