Geneva "Jenny" (Patete) Smith
Geneva 83, passed away after a short illness. Geneva lived in Cuyahoga Falls for over 57 years moving here in January 1960. Originally from North Akron, she worked for Ohio Edison, Cathedral Buffet and the American Greeting Card Company. Geneva made friends wherever she went but especially at the Falls Natatorium where everyone knew her as 'the beast' because of her endurance in cycling and countless exercise classes.
She was preceded in death by her parents Vincenzo and Edelia Patete (Akron) and brother Mario Patete of Phoenix, AZ. She leaves the love of her life, William (Bill) of 57 years, and daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Brad Yates of Cuyahoga Falls, and son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Maureen Petrasko of Stow. Geneva loved her son-in-law and daughter-in-law as much as her own children and the care they all provided was heroic. Geneva also leaves her three loving granddaughters, Maria (Mentor), and Vanessa Petrasko (Pittsburgh) and Christina Yates (Cuyahoga Falls). She is so very proud of each of them and all they have accomplished.
There are countless memories to remain in our hearts of warm family gatherings, family trips to Florida, Hawaii, driving across the USA and especially the 25+ trips to Las Vegas where Jenny and Bill had hours of fun at the slot machines and enjoyed great dinners and shows with the entire family. Jenny also enjoyed Friday night dinners with her sisters, a beautiful full moon, Sunday gatherings after mass with friends at Acme and sitting out back on the swing just taking a ribbing from Tony and Brad.
She is survived by her twin sister Anna McLure (Hudson), sister Margaret Anders of Streetsboro and sister Lena Rinella-Moore (Cuyahoga Falls), sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pat and Dick Smith (Akron), along with many nieces and nephews.
In memory of Geneva you may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls. We'd like to thank so many of the staff at AlterCare in Stow who provided their loving attention and especially to Dr. Makati, John, Amy, Tonya, Demetra, Liz, Lamar, Diamond and so many others
