Genevieve Mortimer Alexander

Genevieve Alexander (nee Mortimer), 87, passed away April 10, 2012.

Beloved wife of the late William Alexander (2006); loving and devoted mother to Kimberly Glenn; she is also survived by brothers, Eugene Mortimer (Luella), Dale Mortimer (Joan) and Gerald Mortimer (Doris); stepchildren, James Alexander (Arjsri), Gail Nicewander (James), Thomas Alexander (Emily Jane), and Becky Alexander; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Genny was a 1946 R.N. graduate of the St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing. Her career spanned 43 years, retiring in 1989 after serving as Director of the St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing. She also graduated from the University of Akron, earning a Bachelor's and a Master's degree. She was very active in the North Hill Christian Church and Western Reserve Christian Church where she was an elder, choir member and served on many committees; was a past member and president of Akron General Hospital Auxiliary. Genny was active in retirement life, working for the Census, taking flower arranging classes, collecting teddy bears and watching the Cleveland Indians.

Many thanks to the staff of Copley Health Center and the VNS Hospice Care for the care of Genny in the last few months of her life.

While she will be greatly missed, we rejoice that she is now with her Lord and Savior and her loved ones who have gone on before her.

Service will be held 11 a.m. MONDAY at the Western Reserve Christian Church, with Rev. Robert J. Hutson officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Richfield. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., SUNDAY from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Monday one hour before the service at the church. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Western Reserve Christian Church, 516 W. Streetsboro St., Hudson, Ohio 44236 or V.N.S. Hospice, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333.
