George C. Fretz was carried in his Savior's arms to his Heavenly home on April 15, 2010.
Born January 17, 1917 in Akron, he lived most of his life in Silver Lake. He graduated from the University of Akron and worked for Goodyear Aircraft/Aerospace for thirty years. He moved into sales and became an executive with Spirol International Corporation for twenty-two years. George was on the board of Silver Lake Trustees and served as president for six years. A longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, he served as chairman, elder, Bible class teacher and "official" greeter.
Preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude; brother, William and sister, Jean Williams; he is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Virginia; sons, George III Margot, Robert Nancy and James Mary Helen Fretz; daughter, Katherine McDowell; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Denzyl Williams; and a multitude whom he considered friends.
Services will be held 10 a.m. TUESDAY at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., MONDAY 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a scholarship fund in his name at Redeemer Christian School, 2141 5th St., Cuyahoga Falls 44221
