George E. Hinton Sr. passed away on August 15, 2018, at University Hospital after a long illness. George was surrounded by family and is now at peace.
Preceded in death by parents, Reka Hinton (nee Moniodis) and Ernest A. Passeos; adoptive father, Dr. Edward L. Hinton; and nephew, Greg L. Passeos; he is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Heather (Dwight) Taylor of Reston, Virginia, George (Michelle) Hinton Jr. of Copley, Ohio, Nicole (Trent) Stratton of Akron, Ohio, and Amanda Hinton of Fairlawn, Ohio; brother, Ernest N.(Rose) Passeos. He is also survived by loving grandchildren, Cole Hinton, Melina Stratton, Ava Stratton, Isaac Hinton, Kai Hinton, and Scarlett Taylor.
George was born in Akron, Ohio, on December 2, 1942. He graduated from Buchtel High School in 1961 and continued his education at the University of Akron, earning a Bachelor's degree in Business. He began his sales career at Conn Ford. He served in the National Guard until honorably discharged. George's true passion began on the golf course as a youth who caddied at Portage Country Club. He eventually entered into the golf business full-time and became an owner/manager of Highlander Golf & Tennis in Copley, Ohio. George was an owner of Highlander Golf until his retirement.

The family extends special thanks to the staff of the MICU at University Hospital in Cleveland for their superb care and compassion. Donations may be made to the MICU or any charity of your choice.
Calling hours will be Friday, August 24th at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, OH 44333, from 1-3 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. In accordance with George's wishes, cremation has taken place. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
