George L. Karadin, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 13th surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Akron, George returned from World War II to continue his work at Ohio Bell. He retired from there as a foreman at the age of 65. George was past president of the local chapter of The Telephone Pioneers of America, member of the Ohio Bell Foreman's Club, an original founding member of the Stan Hywet Orchid Society now the Greater Akron Orchid Society, and life member of the Akron Men's Garden Club. He was also a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Akron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josef and Maria Karadin; his sister, Mary; brothers, Anton, Joseph and Leonard, and daughter, Marjorie Kistler. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marjorie; sons, James Barbara Karadin and George W. Becky Karadin; and daughter, Kim David Reitz; five grandchildren, Megan Karadin, James Anton Karadin, Natasha Jennings, Joshua Karadin, and Morgen Brian Zimmerman; and one great-grandchild, Sebastian Graham.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., Cuyahoga Falls. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Sandra Selby officiating. Burial at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park where military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army, VFW Post 7971 and American Legion Post 473.
