GEORGE THOMAS

George Thomas, 90, fell asleep peacefully in the Lord Jesus Christ on November 13, 2024. George was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 5, 1933, to Fred and Georgette Thomas. 

 George served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, which included a 365-day combat deployment to Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Air Force, George worked for Lockheed in Saudi Arabia where he met his wife Pamela, an Australian citizen.

He and Pamela moved to Coffin Bay, South Australia where he lived for 37 years during which time he ran a boat slip yard for many years. 

George loved all sports and was an exceptional athlete for most of his life. As an undergraduate at Kenyon College, George was a varsity athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and lacrosse.

George was preceded in death by his wife Pamela Thomas. Following the death of his wife, George returned to the U.S. and spent his final years with his family in Norton, Ohio.

George is survived by his daughters Lynn Pelot and Sheree Thomas-Pritchard; son-in-law Scott Pelot; grandchildren Thomas and Celina Bray, Joshua Bray, and Amber and Brandon Horinger; great grandchildren Jordan, Leelyn, and Piers; stepchildren Paul and Bronwyn and Tory and Kim; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Billow Funeral Home, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333. Family and friends may visit from 10-12 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd. Rittman, Ohio 44270.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in George’s name to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Akron, Ohio; the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charity, or the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).
