George Young

George Young, 86, passed away peacefully November 26, 2015 at his home.

George was born February 11, 1929 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was the son of Alexander and Rebecca Clark Young. He immigrated with his wife to the United States in 1965. He was a Mark Master Mason and lifetime member of Neptune Lodge #419 in Glasgow. He was a referee for the U.S. Soccer Federation. He was an active member and musician at Grace Cathedral. He retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #219 in Akron, Ohio in 1992.

Preceded in death by his wife, Mary McMurray Young; his parents and a brother, James; he is survived by his daughter, Allison (Joe) Bennett of Canal Fulton; grandchildren, Steven, Katrina and Caileigh Bennett; sister, Sarah Nicol of Uniontown and brother, William of Scotland; nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

George was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by many and forgotten by none. He will be so deeply missed.

A special thank you to George's doctors and the wonderful staff at Hospice of Summa for their compassionate care and their support for our family.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. SATURDAY at Grace Cathedral Akron, 1055 Canton Rd., with Rev. Steve Millar officiating. Interment at Moore's Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bibles for Missions in memory of George Young c/o Grace Cathedral 2700 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
