Georgene V. Sloat
Georgene V. Sloat nee Barton, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. She was a resident of Montgomery, Texas and formerly of Akron, Ohio.
Georgene was born in Akron, Ohio on October 13, 1933 to the late Ross and Bernice Barton. Known as a kind and gentle person, Georgene's heart was dedicated to her family. She spent her life lovingly raising their two children as her husband's job moved them from state to state. She loved family get-togethers, big family weddings, and any event that brought her extended family together. She was most proud of the classical musical talents of her grandchildren and loved seeing them perform.
Georgene was preceded in death by her son, Eric and her sister, Marjorie Skinner. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James H. of their home; daughter; Melinda Richard Russell of Kennedale, Texas; son, Brian Davina of Spring, Texas. She is also survived by her six grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Katie, Jessica, Natalie and Audrey Russell of Kennedale, Texas and Ian and Rachel Sloat of Spring, Texas. Georgene will be sadly missed by brothers, William E. Barton of Chippewa Lake, Ohio and Ross C. Janet Barton of Wooster, Ohio and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, with Dr. Donard M. Engle officiating. Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
