Gerald Lewis Woodling
Gerald Lewis Woodling passed away at age 92 on Sunday, February 18, 2018. Gerald was born on September 15, 1925, in Springfield Township, Ohio, to Glenn Arthur and Queen Marie (Walker) Woodling. Following his graduation from Springfield Township High School in 1943, Gerald enlisted in the Navy V-12 Officer Training Program and was assigned to Baldwin Wallace College. He later transferred to Case School of Applied Science graduating in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned with the rank of Ensign. It was on a blind date to a Case dance in 1944 that he met an attractive, strawberry-blonde gal named Marilyn Patzwahl from Lakewood, Ohio, whom he married on June 19, 1948. After his discharge from the Navy in 1946, he was employed by the B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company and Goodyear Aerospace Corporation. In 1956, he started Woodling Tractor Sales in Willard, Ohio. After selling the business, he worked at Goodyear Aerospace/Loral Defense Systems for 30 years, until he retired in 1989. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marilyn; sons, Dale (Cindy) and Mark (Karen); grandchildren, Nathan Woodling (Graeme Jackson), Matthew Woodling, Michael Woodling, Kristen Reaver (Nathan) and Katelyn Woodling (Andy Kall). A memorial service will be held at The Bath Church, United Church of Christ, 3980 West Bath Road, on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends before the service starting at 10:00 am.
