Geraldine Ilona Betz

Geraldine Ilona Betz, age 82, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully Monday, September 30, 2024.

She was born September 14, 1942, in Columbus, OH, daughter of the late George Z. and Helen (nee Vegh) Hunyadi.

Geraldine was a lifelong member of the Apostolic Christian Church, where she played the organ for many years. Her love of music brought her much joy and she played many instruments, including the organ, harp, and harpsichord. Geraldine loved to travel, especially to Hungary. She enjoyed skiing and being outdoors. She was a wonderful “second mom,” to many of her nieces and nephews, and they will cherish that forever. Geraldine will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her cherished husband of almost 27 years, Roger Betz; children, Russell (Betty) Betz, Sandra (Rick) Lamp, Gail (Mark) Gutai, and Amy (Paul) Bodjanac; siblings, George (Joy) Hunyadi Jr., Dianna Bako, Barbara (David) Pamer, Rosemary Sabo, Violet Hrubik, James (Catherine) Hunyadi, John (Donna) Hunyadi, and June (Phil) Reddekopp; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333 on THURSDAY, October 3, 2024 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM where funeral service will commence on FRIDAY, October 4, at 12:00 NOON. Interment immediately following in Rose Hill Burial Park.
