Gerald "Jerry" Phillip Dunn peacefully left this earth on September 13, 2023 after a year long illness. Jerry was born March 20, 1945, in Pittsburgh, PA and lived in Beaver County, PA until 2017 when he moved to Stow, Ohio to be closer to his daughter and her family. Jerry leaves behind his daughter, Carrie Dunn-Lucco, a son-in-law, Frank Lucco and a beloved granddaughter, Ainsley Grace. Jerry also leaves behind two brothers, James T. Dunn and Thomas J. Dunn, two sisters, Kathleen R. Dunn and Margeanne Noel and sister-in-law, Jude A. (Reed) Dunn. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by Thomas J. Dunn Sr, a decorated war veteran, his mother Ann M. (Kelly) Dunn and sister-in-law Helen M. (Snaman) Dunn
Jerry served his country in the US Army in a few places including the Vietnam War. After that service, he worked for the Federal Government for over 30 years. Jerry also served his community as a volunteer fireman for Hopewell Township for over a decade. In that capacity, he was a first responder at the scene of the crash of US Air Flight 427 which tragically crashed on September 8, 1994.
Jerry loved animals and was particularly fond of three horses he befriended - Lucy, Dolly and Princess. He also leaves behind Prince - a dog who was one of his best friends.
Jerry was a funny guy - who had a way with words - sometimes not for the faint of heart. As said in one of his favorite movies, A Christmas Story, Jerry "worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay." But beyond that rough exterior, he had a kind soul and will be sorely missed.
