Glenn Ater, Jr., 83, died March 21, 2009.
Glenn was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and had been a senior officer specialist with the Federal Prison System.
Preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn K. Bruck Ater; sister, Betty Madru and parents, Glenn, Sr. and Sara Ater; he is survived by his daughter, Lynne C. James Swinehart of Akron; son, Marc Brenda Ater of Chillicothe, Ohio; grandchildren, Angela Kay Jeff Ulrich and Marc Bedillion; also survived by three stepchildren and six stepgrandchildren.
Services will be held 11 a.m. WEDNESDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Mark W. Frey officiating. Interment at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, Fort Bliss, Texas. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333.
