Glenn W. Meise, 88, joined the rest of his fleet December 7, 2010.
Born in Akron, he lived most of his life on North Hill. He was a North High School graduate and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the SS Parche SS 384 where they received the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor. He was a member of the North Hill United Methodist Church and had retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1980.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna Edwards, Lee Kozar and Wahneta Rex Goon; son, Scott Meise; special friend, Dolly Gates; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was the rock in our lives. We will miss you dad.
Service will be held 1 p.m. SATURDAY at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens, where Firestone V.F.W. Post 3383 will conduct military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Rd., Twinsburg, OH 44087.
