Glenna Rae Snyder

Glenna Kelsey Snyder, age 92, died June 2, 2009.

She was born in Kenmore but grew up in East Akron and Goodyear Heights, graduating from East High School in 1935 and Hammel Business College. She had been a resident of Cuyahoga Falls since 1951. She retired from the Cuyahoga Falls School System in 1983 with twenty two years service as a unit secretary at the high school.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, where she served on numerous committees as well as being a member of Nova Adult Fellowship, Rebecca Circle and Going Strong. She belonged to the Cuyahoga Falls Travel Club and Alaska Adventurers Club as well as several bridge clubs. She also volunteered at The Cuyahoga Valley Art Center. Besides being an avid reader, she enjoyed gardening, traveling and especially driving. She often met with friends from high school and work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, in 1974; her father, Ray Kelsey, in 1944; her sister, Jeanne Olds, in 1967; her mother, Ruth Kelsey, in 1994; her nephew, Timothy Powers, in 2001; her brother, Robert Kelsey, in 2004 and her brother-in-law, Thomas A Powers, in 2005. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Powers of Petoskey, Michigan. She also leaves seven nieces and nephews; fourteen great-nieces and nephews and two great-grandnieces and a great-grandnephew, as well as cousins and many friends.

Services will be held 11 a.m. TUESDAY at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., with Rev. Marvin Brown officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gift and Memorial Fund of the First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221.
