Gordon B. Tibbs
Gordon B. Tibbs, 86, went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, November 6, 2011.
Gordon was born on December 26, 1924 to Orvon and Pauline Tibbs in Mayfield, Ky. He was a South High graduate and enjoyed keeping in touch at their monthly luncheons. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Gordon was a faithful and active member of St. Andrew's Church. He had a passion for his family, grandchildren and friends. He started his day having coffee with his best friends, Ward and Nancy Cox, discussing current events and solving the world's problems.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Orvon and Pauline; brother, Hugh; sisters, Edna and Louise. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Teresa; sister, Norma; sons, Mark and Michael Tatiana; grandchildren, John, Bella, Brandon and Juliana; many nieces and nephews.
Papa was one of those few people you meet in life who immediately treated you like a friend for life. Papa loved his grandchildren with all his heart. Family was everything to him. He was known as a hard worker, strong and fearless, witty, compassionate and a VERY patient person.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron 44333. Services will be performed by Fr. Jeff Richards at St. Andrew's Church, 765 Thayer St., Akron 44310 on Thursday, November 10th at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew's Church.
