Grace C. Parker
It is said God only takes the best.

On July 9, 2009 He did just that. Our wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, teacher and friend, Grace C. Parker, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a short illness.

Grace worked very hard all of her life. She was the owner of "Grace"s Place" where she taught many people the art of sewing, knitting and quilting. She had a great sense of humor, always laughing and joking. She always made everyone who came into her home which was where she taught the above skills welcome. Hospitality was one of her great spiritual gifts.

She was active at St. Paul"s Episcopal Church and volunteered there whenever she could. She was a wonderful cook and friend to all. But she was so much more than that to many, many people.

Grace is survived by her loving husband of 29 and a half years, David; nephew and spiritual son, Curtis Kaylor; niece and spiritual daughter-in-law, Kathleen Kaylor, and loving granddaughter, Mira Kaylor of Akron; brother-in-law, John Jane Parker of Hiram; sister-in-law, Judy Joe Spitale of Canal Fulton; niece, Jeana Joe Findley; great-nieces, Isabella and Katie Findley of North Canton; nephew, Seth Stephanie Spitale of Canton; brother-in-law, Jeff Parker and niece, Ashley; brother-in-law, Mike MaryAnne Parker; nephew, Nathan and niece, Meghan Parker of Stockton, Calif.; special friends, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Barnes, Mrs. Anne Robb, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Giordano, Mrs. Lois Tully, Mrs. Jeannie Jacobs, Dr. Jeffrey Klein, Mr. Thom Steffensen, and many others too numerous to list.

Calling hours will be at The Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, Ohio, on Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. Cremation will follow. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of St. Paul"s Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313 on Saturday July 18, 2009 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Mark J. Pruitt officiating.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful caregivers from Visiting Nurse and Hospice Service. We would also like to thank everyone, who sent cards, brought by flowers, made visits and phone calls and brought food. It is appreciated more than we can express in words.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 2141 Rosecrans Ave. Ste. 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245, St. Paul"s Episcopal Church, Akron, Ohio address above, or to the American Red Cross, 501 W. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44308-1898.
