Gregory Goodwin
Gregory Jason Goodwin, 46, died suddenly last week of natural causes. This gentle soul who was so loyal to his friends and family left a lasting reminder of what it means to be caring, compassionate, thoughtful, understanding and patient.
We, his family and friends, smile when thinking about his delight in car shows, opera, dogs, book collecting, and his annual trip to the Chicago Auto Show where the people who ran it befriended him and knew the joy of Greg as we did. Greg lived independently in Akron while dealing with Autism and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Those who knew him, whether family and friends, case managers or doctors grew to appreciate his questions, curiosity, reminders, and seriousness.
While we cannot see him, he is on our minds in an unbroken community of love and support. We are together forever.
He is survived by his mother, Karen Hite Patterson; step-father, David Patterson; cousins, Chris Hite Moore, Richard Hite, Noelle Hite Whitehouse, and Patrick Hite, and their spouses and children; as well as his aunt and uncle, Barb Goodwin Lieberman and Bill Goodwin and their spouses and children.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Haven of Rest, 175 East Market Street, Akron, OH 44308 or a favorite charity. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
