Gregory Edward Schnell, devoted son, loving brother, adoring cousin, and loyal friend was called into God's arms with his family surrounding him on September 18th, 2015.
Greg was born as a 3 lb.11oz "premie" baby on April 18th, 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio. He entered this world fighting for life, and continued to fight through CVID until his ultimate battle with MDS. Despite the countless adversities Greg faced, he continued to be a shining example of optimism, perseverance and strength for all, especially his family. His sweet smile was infectious, and he wore one constantly. Over the last few years, Greg had found the perfect job working as a patient transporter for the Cleveland Clinic, where he could spread his love of life and happiness to patients, coworkers, and supervisors alike. If you were lucky enough to be transported by Gray-Haired-Greg, you were most likely treated with the utmost respect, cared for like family, and inundated with Cleveland sports statistics as you made your way to your next appointment. He had a heart of gold that this world will miss dearly because it touched so many while he was here. We are all luckier to have known him.
Gregory is survived by his mother, Lorna Melby; sisters, Victoria Greene, Sonja Schnell, and Lynette Schnell; his father and step-mother Edward J. and Julie L. Schnell; step-sisters Bethany and Sarah Frazier; step-grandmother, Jan Schnell; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Lester and Lillie Melby, and Dr. Edward W. Schnell and Phyllis R. Schnell, an aunt, Roxanne Melby, and an uncle, Bobby Schnell.
