Grover Oliver Nelson

Grover Oliver Nelson, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Englewood Community Hospital, Englewood, FL.  Born February 1, 1930 in Polk Township, Galion, Ohio, he was the son of Raymond and Mildred (Chilcote) Nelson.  Grover served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He married his beloved wife of 64 years M. Alene (Fury) Nelson in 1951 and began a career with BF Goodrich in Akron as an engineer.  He was a member of West Hill Baptist Church until his move to Florida in July 2020 as well as the Gideons International.

Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Boyle; brothers, Walter and Roy Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his son, Alan in 1973 and his wife, Alene in 2015.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the West Hill Baptist Church, 605 N. Revere Road, Akron, OH 44333, where friends and family will be received beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church.  Private burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to the church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
