On February 11th Guy O. Rowland took his last breath in his home with his loving wife, Debby Rowland.
Guy was born in Akron OH on September 12, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Elden and Eleanor Rowland and his grandson, Douglas Moyer. Guy is survived by his wife, Debby Rowland; daughter, Monica Moyer (Steve); and son, Alex Rowland (Tish); brother, Edwin Rowland (Pam); sisters, Sarah Hodges (Frank), Mary Weinstein (Fred); and grandchildren, William and Eleanor Moyer, Douglas Rowland, Dylan and Baylie Steen.
Guy was a varsity football player in high school and college. He attended Mount Union College and graduated in 1971. Guy proudly served his country as an Officer in the US Army as an MP at Fort Knox, KY. After College he worked a few jobs until starting with BF Goodrich where he worked in management at multiple locations. In retirement he was the FJ at Northampton United Methodist Church. He loved watching sports, but mostly enjoyed watching Mount Union football with family and friends and Akron Zips basketball with his grandson William. He was very generous with both his time and wisdom. He never missed an opportunity to say hello to the kids at NUMC Preschool and Resnick Community Learning Center where he was known as 'Mr. Guy'. Children brought him great joy which is why he volunteered at Royal Family Kids Camp for over 10 years. He also loved to fish in his spare time. As a young father living in Alabama he would often spend weekends fishing with his son and friends,or coaching his daughter's sports teams. There are many words that could describe Guy, but LOVING is the most fitting. In a family full of outspoken members Guy was always the quiet voice of reason and love.
