She was a life-long educator, having started her career as a teacher in Pennsylvania, and retired from the Cuyahoga Falls schools after serving as a guidance counselor at Cuyahoga Falls High School and Bolich Junior High School. She was always available to her students and their needs, and was much appreciated by all.
A gifted clarinetist, Gwen was a member of the University of Pittsburgh orchestra, and played for years in the Cuyahoga Falls City band. She was a devotee of big band music, especially Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller (she really had the swing). Gwen was also a gifted athlete, playing basketball in high school, and amazing relatives into her 60s by performing one-legged deep knee bends (go ahead, try it). Gwen loved to play bridge, and was quite accomplished, having earned Grandmaster points - the highest accomplishment in the game. She especially treasured her friends at her Monday and Wednesday bridge games.
A woman of rare intelligence, Gwen was a gifted storyteller and had a contagious sense of humor. A conversation was never dull when she was involved - she was a was full of laughter and found humor in most everything. Gwen was a wonderful daughter, wife, sister, and mother who would do anything for one in need. She was truly selfless and will be missed by many but forgotten by none.
