Harold C Colley

March 18, 1928 — December 25, 2010

Harold C. Colley, 82, passed away Christmas Day, 2010.

Harold was born on March 18, 1928 in Harrisburg, Pa. to Rebecca and Harold Colley. He attended Rankin and Buchtel High School, graduating in 1946. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He worked during his college summers at Wellman Engineering. Upon graduation from Purdue, Harold worked in Development at Goodyear Tire and later at the Goodyear Atomic Plant in Waverly, Ohio. He spent the remainder of his career managing small businesses.

He married Jean Hodge in 1951 and had recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Harold was a man of integrity and passed those values to his children. He loved music, especially the works of Oscar Peterson. He was passionate about golf and enjoyed many rounds with friends at Good Park beginning in his childhood. Harold had a quick wit and kept his sense of humor 'til the very end. He was a loyal friend and loved children, especially those that were related to him.

Harold is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Nancy Jim Laria of Akron; son, Jim Peggy Colley of Winnetka, Ill.; daughter, Emily Colley Sonnie of Chardon, Ohio; sisters, Ann Louise Colley of Akron, and Sue Jim Mackay of Newburyport, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Carol Don Poe and Emily Brasfield of Chagrin, Ohio; grandchildren, Wendy and Jimmy Laria and Webbe and Jack Colley; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and son-in-law, Bill Sonnie.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, aides, and other staff at the Ledges at Rockynol for the tender loving care they gave to ``Colley' and the warm friendship they extended to Jean over the two plus years that he was a resident at the Ledges. We are eternally grateful to the dear friends who stayed in contact with ``Colley' throughout his extended illness.
