Harold Evans

Harold Evans was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 23, 1922. He served in the Navy, as a tail gunner on B-24 bombers during WWII, in the Pacific Theater. He attended the University of Cincinnati and earned his bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He had a long, successful career at Goodyear Aerospace and retired in 1988.
He married his soul mate, Dorothy in 1949 and they had three children. The family grew to 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2013. Harold passed away to be with his beloved Dorothy on March 21, 2018.
Harold was active in bowling, golf, free masonry travel, and all family activities. He drove for Mobile Meals for 23 years, as well as the American Red Cross shuttles totaling over 100,000 miles. He was active at First United Methodist Church of Akron for 50 years. He loved chocolate and any flavored ice cream (garlic not so much).
He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, OH 44333 with Pastor Dr. Howard Pippin officiating. Friends may call 1 hour before the service. Private inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at ALZ.org or 800-272-3900. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
