Harold D. King, Sr., 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and caring staff at Greenfield Estates on Sunday, December 3, 2017.
He was born in Akron but lived in Fairlawn the last 47 years of his life. Even though he worked full-time at Fruehauf Trucking, he fit in time for his "hobbies": tinkering with cars, planting a large garden to supply produce to family and friends, as well as building several houses, which kept him busy.
A man of simple pleasures - polka music, Barberton chicken, roasting hotdogs on a fire, going on bus trips with mom, and spending time with his grandson while he was growing up made him happy.
I'm pretty sure Dad and Mom are sitting on a bench under a big shady tree enjoying a box of popcorn and listening to a polka band right now!
Harold was preceded in death by his loving wife, Celina. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Becky (Kim) Honaker; sons, Edward King and Harold (Stacy) King Jr.; and grandson, Zach (Ashley).
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. THURSDAY, December 7, 2017, at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Fr. Matthew Jordan officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
