Harold L. Shambo, 83, died July 2, 2009.

Born in Akron, he was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and member of the Gospel Crusaders Church. Active in numerous Masonic organizations, he was a member and past master of Akron Lodge # 83 F&AM.

Preceded in death by his sons, Jim and John; brother, Carl; he is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Akron; daughters, Connie Doxey Gary of Peninsula, Robin Ochsmann Art of Colorado and Rena Vass Tim Doxey of Connecticut; step children, Mike Hatch of Akron and Sharon Schoenberg of Los Angeles; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 2 p.m. MONDAY at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 84 N. Miller Rd., with Coventry Akron Lodge #83 F&AM and Rev. John B. Beers officiating. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one"s choice.
