Harold R. "Bob" Stevens
Harold R. "Bob" Stevens, 77, died June 29, 2016, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous three month battle with cancer.
He graduated in 1961 from The Ohio State University, with a business degree in economics, where he became a lifelong Buckeye fan. As a result, the fall months, with the changing leaves and football season, were his favorite time of year.
His business career began at Lazarus Department Store in Columbus, Ohio; he then became Vice President of Burlington House Industries in New York City, before returning to Ohio when he became an independent manufacturers' rep.
In addition to his wife Lois of 40 years, he leaves behind son, Dr. H. Craig Stevens; daughter, Lisa Stevens Rowan; like a daughter, Tracy Wolf Walker; like a son, Tom Merriman; brothers, Douglas and Bruce Stevens; mother-in-law, Evelina Zorbini; best lifelong family friends, Karl and Ellen Hay, and their daughters and families; grandchildren, Alex and Marina; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bob gave all of his unconditional love, attention, and guidance, without limit, to many throughout his life. He mentored, listened and helped in any way, those who sought him out, or needed his sound life or business advice. Children especially were drawn to him- whether it was family or neighborhood children, with whom he had lifelong relationships from birth through adulthood.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. SATURDAY, July 23rd, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market St. in Akron, with a reception immediately following at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Choir Fund or Summa Hospital Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab in Akron.
