Harry Frank Dickos

May 10, 1927 — May 19, 2015

Harry Frank Dickos, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 19, 2015.

Born in Beaver Falls, PA, he was a longtime Akron resident. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a devoted member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, its men's club, AHEPA and a volunteer at the weekly gyro luncheon. Harry was a retired attorney from Bridgestone/Firestone and a former member of both the Akron and Ohio Bar Associations.

Preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; sister, Betty Dickos and brother, Dinos Dickos; he is survived by his brother, Jim (Tika) Dickos; sister-in-law, Chris Dickos, both of Pittsburgh; sons, Frank (Teja) Dicopoulos of Monmouth Beach, NJ, and Alex (Ginny) Dickos of Akron; daughter, Penny Dickos of Akron; grandchildren, Jaden and Olivia Dicopoulos, Cristina and Alessandra Dickos; nieces, nephews and godchildren.

A ray of sunshine who always lit up a room with his charisma, Harry was loved and admired by many. He had a playful attitude towards life, and his optimism was contagious. His sense of humor never wavered, and he was always good for a corny joke. He loved to share in the laughter he provided.

Above all, Harry cherished his wife and family. He was the best Papou to his grandchildren, and they were his pride and joy. To them, he was "The Leader."

The world lost a great man, but heaven gained one. It is what one does with the gift of life that determines who one is. Harry used that gift to its fullest extent.
May his memory be eternal.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at The Village of St. Edward and Summa Hospital Acute Palliative Care Unit.
