Harry S Mccormick

Harry S. McCormick, 85, passed away quietly on March 29, 2014.
He was born on October 24. 1928 in Akron to the late Crystal and Frank McCormick. Harry was a lifetime resident of Akron. Ohio. He attended Akron Public Schools and graduated with a B.S. in Business from the University of Akron. He was married to Merle for forty-one years prior to her death in 2003. Harry retired from General Tire where he worked his entire career as an accountant. He was instrumental in implementing General Tire's first information technology system for the Accounting department.
Harry attended North Hill Christian Church where he taught Sunday school. Harry was a loving father and grandfather and a devoted animal lover. He was an avid reader, preferring science fiction novels which he more recently viewed on his Kindle, he occasionally indulged in old western movies. He was most talented as a carpenter, spending hours on his woodworking projects and to help out friends and family members.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Merle; and his sisters, Ardell and Bertha. He is survived by his son, Bob (Leanne) of Copley Township; his daughter, Cheryl Maxwell of Akron; his grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Cassie, and Tate; and his niece, Pat Johnston of Copley Township.
The family would like to thank Hospice of VNS and Justin T. Rogers Care Center for their excellent care of Harry during his illness.
Friends may call at Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Harry may be made to One of a Kind Pet Rescue in Akron ( www.oneofakindpets.com ) . (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
