Hattie Mae Berry, 96, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2016 at her home in Cardinal Village.
The oldest of 8 children, Hattie was born to Oscar and Mary Willett in Fancy Farm, KY, on March 6, 1920. She spent much of her life in Akron. Hattie married Sidney L. Berry on May 12, 1941. She loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, playing cards, sewing and needlework and spending time with her family.
Hattie was always cheerful and kind and had a sweet gentle spirit. She held a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her husband, Sidney, of 55 years.
She is survived by daughters, Pamela (Robert) Hudacsek, Donna (Charles) Oplinger and Nancy (Ronald) Sasinowski; grandchildren, Gregg (Janyse) Heidy, Lori (Tom) Weckerly, Brian Oplinger, Lisa (Shawn) Lavy and Tiffany (Chris) Simone; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, and brothers, Kenneth (Janice) Willett and Richard (Nancy) Willett and brother-in-law, Jack McMillan.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Cardinal Retirement Village for being part of Hattie's loving family for fourteen years. A special thank you to Mike, Tisha and Melissa at Grace Hospice for their outstanding care of our mom during her final hours.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. WEDNESDAY, December 28, 2016, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223, with Father Thomas McCann officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on TUESDAY, at the Billow Falls Chapel, 1907 23rd St. Should friends desire, Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association,
