Heather E. Glisson

Heather E. Glisson , born August 18, 1958, went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2023 surrounded by her family. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for 25 years.

Heather was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine J Warner, father, David L Warner, and sister, Connie L Drake. She is survived by her dearly loved husband of 40 years, Charles M Glisson, children Scott G (Traci) Glisson of Hudsonville, MI, and Kelly K Glisson, of South Bend, IN, brother, David L (Diane) Warner of Janesville, WI, 2 grandchildren Kenzington Grace and Caden Warner Glisson. Brother-in-law, Micheal Drake of Atwood, IL and cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

Heather loved music, studying the Bible, playing dominoes, and traveling (especially to Disney World and National Parks). She was a graduate of Perry High School in Massillon, OH in 1976, Milligan College, in Elizabethton, TN in 1980, and earned her MBA from the University of Akron in 1985. Heather retired from Ohio Edison/FirstEnergy in 2013 after 33 years primarily in the Controller’s Department. For several years before and after retirement, she led a Bible Study at the FirstEnergy General Office. She was a member of the Northwest Avenue Church of Christ in Tallmadge, where she directed the children’s and adult choirs, the latter for over 20 years, and taught pre-school and adult classes. She also founded the Widows Ministry and was a part of the cleaning team. She was involved with American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, first at the Akron Relay in Copley, then for 10 years at the Tallmadge Relay. Additionally, she taught Junior Achievement in the Tallmadge City schools for several years.

The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic’s Drs. Budd and Chao, and Machelle Moeller APRN CNP, for their excellent care; and give a special thank you to Carrie, Heather’s “special angel” treatment nurse. Also, her neurologist, Dr. Galla. Lastly, thank you to the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center for their excellent care at the end.

Calling hours will be from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on FRIDAY December 1st and 10-11 am on SATURDAY December 2nd at Northwest Avenue Church of Christ, 737 Northwest Ave in Tallmadge where the Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11am on SATURDAY December 2nd officiated by Pastors Scott Baker and Randy Kirk. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery.
