Helen Chima, 95, passed away February 11, 2011
Born Jan. 24, 1916 in Newark Ohio, she moved to Akron at the age of 4.
She graduated from Garfield High School and Hamel Business College and worked at B.F. Goodrich Co. as a secretary for two years then joined the family owned Chima Travel Bureau, Inc. as Secretary Treasurer until retirement. Helen loved to travel and she visited all continents - many times as a group escort. She was secretary of the American Society Business Womens Association, board member of the International Institute plus several other organizations, and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Preceded in death by father and mother, Peter and Maria Chima; sister, Mary Orashan; brothers, Doctor Nicholas Chima and Lt. Virgil Chima; she leaves two brothers, C.P. Chima and George P. Chima; sister-in-law, Cornelia S. Chima, along with many nieces and nephews, Lissa, Craig, Derek, Lance, Rodrick, and Trent Chima, Nancy Jennings, Tom and Kenneth Orashan.
There are no calling hours; private family service. Memorials can be made to Association for Retarded Citizens, St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
