Helen E. Corbissero, 70, passed away October 27, 2009 at her residence.
Born in Akron, she lived in Cuyahoga Falls and Stow most of her life. She was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, Class of 1957 and Kent State with a B.S. in Education in 1961 where she was a member of Alpha Xi Sorority. She started her career in the Akron School system with five years of service then transferred to Cuyahoga Falls where she taught for 25 years. During her teaching career, she was a Jennings Scholar. Helen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Ohio Education Association and Kappa Kappa Iota.
Helen is survived by Michael, her husband of 46 years; daughters, Elizabeth Tim Lovell of Green, Michele Keith Allen of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughters, Marisa and Erika Lovell; cousin, Ruth Wigand; special friends who helped in the care of Helen over the past 14 years, Dave and Joan Gulajski, John and Nancy Lorz, Richard and Mindy Tompkins, Maryann Orben, Marge Yannucci and Kim Murray.
Services will be held 11 a.m. FRIDAY at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., with Rev. John G. Eiwen officiating. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron, 4904 Quick Rd., Peninsula, OH 44264-9719.
