Helen Long Ferguson, 93, died April 18, 2011.
Born March 22, 1918 in Salesville, Ohio, to Carl and Mildred Van Kirk Long, she was a graduate of The University of Akron and a retired teacher form the Akron Public Schools. Helen volunteered in many capacities including as a docent at the Akron Art Museum, selling tickets for St. Thomas Hospital's Day at the Races and for the Right to Read Program at the Wadsworth Library.
Preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Ferguson in 1975, she is survived by her son, Charles Esther Ferguson of Akron; daughter, Marsha Ferguson Wadd of Florida; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 4 P.M. MONDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Private inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333.
