Helen Hofer Gatsie

Helen Hofer-Gatsie passed away peacefully on January 31, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.
Helen was born on February 20, 1923 in Akron to Nikolas and Katherine Klespies. Helen married John Gatsie on June 27, 1997 and he survives. She was a graduate of South High after which she married Albert Hofer on July 31, 1942. While Al was overseas during World War II, Helen worked as a secretary in Akron. Helen will be remembered for her willingness to help anyone in need and being a loving mother and grandmother. She said she was a very blessed woman to have met the love of her life at a young age and to meet the other love of her life, John Gatsie, in her early 70's.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Billow Funeral Home, Fairlawn Chapel on 85 N. Miller Road in Akron. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM, with burial immediately following.
Donations may be made to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donors choosing.
