Our beloved Helen Tomkinson Jeter passed away on Wednesday the 26th of August.
She was born September 21, 1915 on Balch Street to Thomas Tomkinson, comptroller of B.F. Goodrich, and his wife Bertha. In 1931 she entered Wellesley College, becoming one of the youngest girls ever to attend. Helen married McMillan Robinson, a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy in 1940. Mac died in1949 and at that time was vice president of Ocean City Manufacturing in Philadelphia. In 1953, Helen married Raphael G. Jeter, vice president and general counsel of B.F. Goodrich. Ray passed away in 1992.
During her long life, Helen was involved in many civic activities and started as early as age twenty-two on the Akron Children's Hospital Women's Board. She remained a lifelong member and was also a Life Member of the Woman's Board of Akron City Hospital. Since 1944 she had been actively involved in the Junior League. Making frequent appearances on the 'Best Dressed in Akron' list, she served as president of the Akron Garden Club from 1977 to 1979. For many years she and her family attended the Church of Our Savior.
Helen leaves behind two daughters, Anne Robinson Taylor of Marina del Rey, California, and Judith Jeter Vernon of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She had six grandchildren: Vanessa Taylor, Nick Bosworth, Cathy Horton, Bonnie Bosworth, Susan Linney, and Jeff Vernon, and through them nineteen great-grandchildren.

Helen was an extraordinary woman, and we will celebrate her life at the Portage Country Club on the 24th of October from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Akron Children's Hospital or Akron City Hospital.
