Helen Virginia (Grimm) Knight

Helen Virginia (Grimm) Knight , 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday 27 July 2024 close to her home in Copley, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Knight, her mother, Helen Stover, and her Aunt Florence and Uncle Leonard (June) Littman. She is survived by her three children - Sherri (Marcello), Donald Jr. (Cheryl), and David (Susan); her five grandchildren -  Olivia Katherine, 28, Enzo Augustine, 19, Milo Joseph, 18, Lilliana Maria, 16, and Rhys Evan, 15; in addition to many valued friends and close family members.

A longtime resident of the Akron community, Helen was an attentive Revere Public Schools parent for many years as well as a devoted corporate wife during her husband’s 40 year career at Goodyear. High school sweethearts who met at New Cumberland High School in the 1950s, Helen and Don had a rich life together, living overseas in Luxembourg for a number of years and traveling everywhere from Vienna, Austria to Rome, Italy with many holidays in between in Paris, France. On home soil, they trekked everywhere from Vegas to Hawaii and Florida or Maine to Arizona and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They were happy as long as they were together.

Born in Grafton, West Virginia in 1936, Helen was a graduate of the Nursing Academy at Ohio Valley General Hospital and worked as a Registered Nurse off and on for years. She was an informed antiques enthusiast who collected rare china and glass, a history buff, and an avid reader with a big love of Christmas, often cooking Christmas Eve or Christmas Day dinner for family with up to three Christmas trees in the house. She was a talented baker, a great keeper of family history and traditions, and devoted to her children’s and grandchildren’s interests.

Per her wishes, the family will be holding a private memorial and, in lieu of flowers, friends and family can donate to St. Hilary Parish in Fairlawn, Ohio, where she was a longtime parishioner, for a mass to be said in her name.   ( https://sthilarychurch.org )
