Helen Meek

Helen Marie Meek (Brister), 78, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014.
She was a lifelong resident of the Copley/Bath area. She graduated Copley High as valedictorian and went on to have an adventurous life. Travel was a passion, so she opened Helen Meek Travel Agency. She traveled the world, touching all continents, and wrote a travel column that appeared in travel magazines and local newspapers. She was very giving of her time. She served on many organizations including the Fairlawn Chamber of Commerce (president 1993-94), Women's Board of Akron General Medical Center, Akron Symphony Guild, and American Heart Association.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Hattie Brister of Copley; she is survived by her daughter, Lori (Tom Seesdorf); son, John (Babs); adored grandsons, Jonathan, Harrison, and Jackson; sister, Nena Sabol; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Special thanks to sister-in-law, Lilli Meek, for the wonderful care she provided.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Dr. Walter S. Chisholm officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Calling hours to welcome friends and family will be held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montrose Zion United Methodist Church, 565 N.
