Helen Maxine Peternell (nee Glendon)
Maxine Glendon Peternell, 92, died May 20, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Maxine was born in Akron on January 17, 1925, the daughter of William and Martha (Guthrie) Glendon and lived in the area her entire life.
She graduated from Garfield High School in June 1943 and was employed at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 36 years retiring as a secretary in the Development Department in 1980. Maxine was a member of the Goodyear Blue and Gold Club and Copley's Frank Bender American Legion Auxiliary Unit 473 where she was a past secretary and president. Maxine did volunteer work at the Akron Civic Theatre and the Braille Work Center 191 at Fairlawn Lutheran Church.
Preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Walter V. Peternell who died January 1987; sister, Mildred Armstrong, and brothers, Raymond, Robert and Billy Glendon; she is survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews; and friends.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron 44333. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
