Helen A. Petersen, 91, passed away Feb. 9, 2015 after a long illness.
Helen was born on Sept. 13, 1923 to Albert and Marie Freudeman in Akron, OH. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Koehler, Grace Finney, Kathryn Hood, and Edith Botkin; and her husband of 65 years, Alfred W. Petersen.
Helen was employed as a cafeteria worker at Litchfield Middle School, retiring after 25 years of service. She was an avid reader of English history, loved all things royal and British. She was also a wonderful cook. As the years passed, her sight and her strength failed her, but what never failed was her love and concern, despite overriding health issues, for her five children, Jane Miles (Don Sycz), Richard Petersen (Sandy), Mary Mansour, Stephen Petersen (Barbara) and Anne Petersen (Jamie) who will miss her immensely. She also leaves five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Copley Health Center for their care, especially Carol and Laura. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours and cremation has taken place. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
