Hershel Wallace Grinter, 81, died May 23, 2014.
Born in Akron July 31, 1932 to Hershel Wallace and Grace Colclough Grinter, he graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of The Bath Church, U.C.C., a ham radio operator and had traveled the world through his employment as a purchasing agent with B.F. Goodrich. Hershel married Carolyn Linstrom, his loving wife of 53 years, in Riverside, CA in May of 1961.
Preceded in death by his son Steven in 2009 and brother, Andy in 1974; he is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Diane (Brad) Steiger; daughter-in-law, Maria Matthews; grandchildren, Melanie and Matthew Steiger, Andy and Kelly Grinter; sister-in-law, Kathy Grinter; nephews, John (Jen) and Michael Grinter; and many loving relatives from Carolyn's extended family.
Services will be held 11 a.m. FRIDAY at the Bath Church, U.C.C., with Rev. Mark Fry and Rev. Maureen Webber officiating. Interment at Moore's Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the church FRIDAY one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to The Bath Church, U.C.C. 3980 W. Bath Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
