Hubert Guy Cole, 92 years of Akron, Ohio passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021.
He was the youngest child of Connie Hobert and Harriett Lucille Cole, born on April 9, 1929 in Spruce Pine, NC. It was during the Great Depression that his parents moved to Akron with his two siblings and his four half-siblings. He joined the Army at age 16 on February 12, 1946. He was sent to Gorizia, Italy on June 9, 1946, returning back to the States on July 19, 1947. He was a Motor Sergeant for the 88th Artillery Division while in Italy. On October 4, 1947, he was Honorably Discharged. He was called back to service on November 9, 1950 during the Korean Conflict. Honorably Discharged on July 18, 1951. He was very proud of his service in the Army, but never once asked for anything in return. Hubert was a hardworking man who had many experiences in life. He worked at Seiberling Tire and Rubber, drove truck for Johnson Motor Freight and Hutton Trucking from 1961 to 1964. He began driving for Wahl Moving and Transfer in 1965. His entrepreneurial spirit and passion for providing for his family was most important. Hugh continued to work hard with his family throughout his entire life. Hubert enjoyed driving stock cars for over ten years during the 1960’s. He became a favorite driver, becoming a Tri-State champion. He loved classic cars and became an avid collector over the years. When asked what his favorite car was, he’d always say “All of them”.
Hubert was a devoted husband and family man. He is survived by his wife, Deborah, of 46 years. Also his sons, Dennis (Kathryn) and Aaron (Heather), daughters, Cindy (Rick) Klopp, Kathy Burlas, and Denise (Cliff) Stover. He was the grandfather of Shelby Stover, David (Jenna) Cole, Allison and Larissa Cole, Erica (Kyle) Vasiloff, Ashley (Brad) Robbins, Melinda (Aaron) Murawski, Jonathon Heidish, Brandon Klopp, and Colette (Ben) James. He also has nine great grandchildren, Alyssa, Abbey, Kaylee, Luella, Elijah, Braden, Claire, Alexandra, and Luke. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Connie Walker, brother, Hobert Cole, and by his four half-siblings.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Billow Funeral Home, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn, Ohio with Military Honors.
