Hunter Y. Smith
Hunter Y. Smith, 80, died in Barberton, OH on April 3, 2018.
He was born in Rochester, NY. He proudly served in the United States Army prior to the outbreak of the Vietnam War. He was educated in Wheeling, West Virginia before moving north with his family to Northeast Ohio, where he spent most of his life.
Hunter was preceded in death by his parents; George and Alma Smith. He is survived by his children, Hunter, Kimberley (Paul), and Christine (Paul), and their mother, Joyce (Robert); his companion of many years, Kathy, and her son Rick (Christine); brother, Ronald (Carole); his grandchildren and great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and beloved pets.
An Electronic Technician by trade, Hunter began his career at Rockwell International in Cleveland and retired from Lowes as the "Toolman". His real passions include Model Railroading and woodworking. He was a steadfast fan of the Cleveland Browns.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday April 7th at Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn, with Rev. Brad Jagger officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service. As a lover of animals, Hunter's family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Humane Society of Summit County, 7996 Darrow Rd. Suite 30, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
