Ida M. Brown

On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, Ida M. Brown (Ostrander) went home to be with the Lord.

Born in Akron, Ohio on September 24, 1929, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Donald C Brown; son, Donald J Brown; parents, John and Margaret Ostrander; and brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Goldie Ostrander.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly A. Brown and son, Scott A. Brown (Dolly); grandchildren, Kirk S. Brown (Savannah), Kelsey A. Brooks (Brendan), Courtney M. Worner (Alex) and Maria E. Brown. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

A lifetime resident of Akron, Ida graduated from Central High School and The University of Akron. She then taught school for several years before marrying and starting a family.

In her early 40’s, Ida began attending bible study where she made the decision to accept and follow Christ. She attended The Chapel (Akron) and volunteered for many years at Akron Pregnancy Services and Haven of Rest. Ida enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, golfing, working in the yard, bible studies and spending time with family and her many friends. She also enjoyed going to Naples, Florida for many years during the winter months.

The family would like to thank Lynda Arman and Carrie Wagner for the special care they provided to Ida over the past five years.

A private memorial took place at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel on Friday, December 17, 2021 and burial followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Akron Pregnancy Services or Haven of Rest Ministries.
