Irene McIlroy Darkow, born October 16, 1920, died June 15, 2017.
Mrs. Darkow was born in Akron, graduated from East High School and attended the University of Akron where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She was the Classification Chairman of the National Button Society, a lifelong volunteer, a member of WITAN, the Akron Garden Club, was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed golf.
Preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Darkow and brother, Leo McIlroy; she is survived by special friend, Richard Weaver; sister, Rita Clayton and her children, Carol and Brady; daughter, Lynn E. Darkow; sons, Craig T. (Ann) Darkow and Robert A. Darkow; and grandsons, Adam, Alex, Andrew and Bryan.
Private inurnment will take place with the family at Rose Hill Burial Park at a later date.
