Jack Hudson Force

Jack Hudson Force, 85, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center.

He attended Coventry High School and The University of Akron after he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While attending The University of Akron, Jack was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He was raised on the Portage Lakes, East Reservoir, where he was a renowned outboard Mercury boat racer and won the APBA National boat racing championship in 1951. He was the only son of Hudson and Eva Force. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a home builder in the greater Akron area and won the Akron House of the Year in 1966. Jack and Nan Force were long term residents of 484 Hampshire Road. He was involved with the Indian Guides, Camp Y-Noah, and Akron Kiwanis. Jack will be remembered for his love of water skiing, walleye fishing, model airplanes, ping pong, along with his support of Akron University and its students.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nan Sumner Force; daughter, Georgialee Eric Adams; sons, Frank Peggy Force and John Sumner Force; and grandchildren, Mandy, Amber, Avery, Elizabeth, Lauren, Ian, and Erin.

The family would like to express its gratitude for the loving care that was given to their father by the staff of Sumner on Ridgewood and the Hospice Care Center.

The family will receive friends 1 to 3 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Manor House at Sumner on Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Sumner Employee Appreciation Fund, 970 Sumner Parkway, Copley, OH 44321. Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel
