Jack Halsey, born March 9, 1927, heroically battled pulmonary fibrosis and died peacefully February 14, 2011.
He graduated from Buchtel High School then served in the Army as a medical technician. After World War II he served as a First Lt. in the Army Reserves. He attended the University of Akron and joined the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and later earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He retired from Roadway Express after 35 years. Jack loved life and appreciated his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia; and is survived by his children, Elizabeth Mark Pirie, William Nancy Halsey, Jeanne Anne David Owen, Sally Halsey; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Dr. Donard M. Engle officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. At his request there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
