Jackie Clowney passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011.
She was born in Akron and was a life-long resident. She worked for a short time at Goodrich Tire & Rubber Company and married John Y. Clowney, retiring shortly thereafter. She soon began volunteering and was actively involved in supporting Akron General Medical Center AGMC and served as president of both WITAN and the Woman's Board. She further volunteered for 50 years supporting various areas of AGMC. She had also been a member of the Eastern Star for over fifty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, following over 50 years of marriage. She is survived by sister, Jeane Dennett; nephews, Scott Dennett, John Dunn and Mark Dunn; cousins, Richard Freeman, James Freeman and Basil Dickert; and many friends.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
